Description:
When connected to a LANCOM via the console (telnet, SSH, serial), you can vary the length of Ethernet trace output to display the information that is relevant to you. This document presents various trace levels and the options for customization.
Requirements:
- LANtools as of version 7.80 (download latest version)
- LCOS as of version 7.80 (download latest version)
- Access to the corresponding router via Telnet, SSH or serial
Procedure:
First establish a connection to the router with a utility such as Putty or HyperTerminal. You can set you choice of trace level with the command set/setup/lan/trace-level x. The value x in this command is a number between 1 and 255.
Here are some examples of how the various trace levels appear:
set/setup/lan/trace-level 1
- [Ethernet] 2009/03/02 16:55:00,170
- Received 60 byte Ethernet packet via LAN-1:
- (increase trace level to at least 2 for further analysis)
set/setup/lan/trace-level 2
- [Ethernet] 2009/03/02 16:54:36,930
- Sent 90 byte Ethernet packet via LAN-1:
