This document describes the various methods available for resetting a LANCOM device to its factory settings.Software required:

After being reset, the LANCOM device has no password.

After being reset, the LANCOM router can be accessed by ISDN. An unconfigured LANCOM will accept any incoming call.

A reset does not lead to the loss of activated options (e.g. Fax Gateway, VPN, etc.).


Requirements:
  • LANconfig as of version 9.24
LANconfig A Telnet or
  • Any web browser for accessing WEBconfig
  • Any SSH client (e.g. PuTTY)

Before resetting, make a backup of the current configuration. Otherwise this will be lost and irrecoverable. Proceed as follows to do this:
With LANconfig:
  • In LANconfig, right-click on the router with the mouse.
  • From the context menu, select the option Configuration management → Save as file.
  • Navigate to the folder for storing the configuration file and click on Save.

With WEBconfig:
  • Open a browser window and enter the router's IP address.
  • Login to the device with your user name and password.
  • In the WEBconfig menu select the option File management → Save configuration.
  • Navigate to the folder for storing the configuration file and click on Save

    Procedure:
    There are two ways of resetting a LANCOM to its factory settings:
    • By using the reset button on the LANCOM on the front of back, depending on the model.
    • By using the console (Telnet/SSH)
    It is currently not possible to carry out a reset with WEBconfig, the web-based configuration GUI.

    The reset button on the LANCOM device:
    Every LANCOM device has a reset button which can be pressed with a pointed object (e.g. a ball-point pen). Pressing the button for 5 seconds or longer restarts the device and resets the configuration to its factory settings.
    All LEDs on the device light up continuously in red. Once the switch is released the LANCOM will restart with the factory settings restored.

    Resetting with via the consoleCLI:
    1. Start a console CLI session with the LANCOM (e.g. with Telnet or SSH) device via SSH and login with your your user name and password.
    2. Enter the following command:
    do /other/reset
    3. Press the enter key.
    4. Enter your password and press the enter key again.Image Removed
