Description:
Multicast traffic is usually sent to the entire network. The disadvantage of this is that participants receive this data traffic even if they do not need it. This increases the base load on the network. Using IGMP snooping, it is possible to restrict multicast data traffic to certain switch ports and thus reduce the number of network participants affected.
This article describes how to configure IGMP Snooping on a GS-23xx series switch-Datenverkehr wird normalerweise in das gesamte Netzwerk gesendet. In diesem Artikel wird beschrieben, wie IGMP-Snooping auf einem Switch der GS-23xx Serie konfiguriert werden kann.
Requirements:

- Beliebiger Web-Browser für den Zugriff auf das Webinterface

Procedure:
1. Verbinden Sie sich per Webinterface mit dem Switch und wechseln in das Menü ) Connect to the switch via the webinterface and go to the menu Configuration → IGMP Snooping → Basic Configuration.
2. Passen Sie die folgenden Parameter an:) Modify the following parameters:

- , dassdie Option Make sure, that the option Unregistered IPMCv4 Flooding Enabled deaktiviert ist, da unbekannte Streams ansonsten an alle Ports weitergeleitet werdenis deactivated, as otherwise unknown streams would be forwarded to all ports.
3. Aktivieren Sie für den Port, an dem der Multicast-Sender angeschlossen ist, die Option Router Port und klicken auf ) Activate the option Router Port for the port, where the Multicast sender is connected to and click Apply.

Sofern es weitere Switches in dem Szenario gibt, muss auf diesen der Uplink-Port zum nächsten Switch mit dem Multicast-Sender ebenfalls als Router Port deklariert werden. |

4) Go to the menu 4. Wechseln Sie in das Menü Configuration → IGMP Snooping → VLAN Configuration, tragen die gewünschte VLAN ID ein und klicken auf enter the VLAN ID for the desired network and click Add.
5. Passen Sie die folgenden Parameter an und klicken auf Apply:) Modify the following parameters and click Apply:
- Activate the option Snooping Enabled for the VLAN, where Multicast should be used.
- Make sure, that the option IGMP Querier is active in every VLAN, where Multicast should be used

- Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Option IGMP Querier für jedes VLAN, in dem Multicast verwendet werden soll, aktiviert ist.

Damit IAPP-Nachrichten In order for IAPP messages (Inter Access Point Protocol) bei aktiviertem IGMP-Snooping übertragen werden, muss für das VLAN bei Compatibility die Option Forced IGMPv3 ausgewählt werden. Es ist aber nicht sinnvoll, diese Option immer zu setzen, da ansonsten IGMPv1- und IGMPv2-Pakete nicht übertragen werden. Daher sollte die Option Forced IGMPv3 nur für ein VLAN gesetzt werden, in dem Access Points untereinander IAPP-Nachrichten austauschen müssen.
