Information:

The menu item <SSID> Phy Signal in the WEBconfig menu LCOS Menu Tree -> Status -> WLAN -> Scan Results describes the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) as a percentage value from 0 to 100%.

A value of 100% indicates a SNR of 64 dB or more, and smaller values are scaled in an appropriately linear manner. For example, a value of 50% indicates a SNR of 32 DB.

The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is expressed relative to the last calibrated noise level, which is shown in the menu LCOS Menu Tree -> Status -> WLAN -> Radios. · To calculation an absolute signal level , apply the following formula :
    Signal level = (PhySignal * 64 / 100) + noise level

Note
Notes:
  • With regard to WLAN cards, this is equipment for data transmission and not high-frequency measuring instrumentation. The noise levels and SNRs as reported by the hardware are not calibrated values, because this is not required to fulfill the equipment's purpose (e.g. comparing different signal strengths to select the strongest access point). Therefore, variations in the values for reported levels
that
  • can vary by up to 3 db or
5 dB can be neglected
  • 7 dB.
  • The scores from the scan results are not real-time values.
  • More information about the signal-to-noise ratio is available from this link.
