Description:
The following table shows which WLAN Controller features are suppported by LCOS LX 5.36 / 5.38 / 6.10 / 6.12 / 6.14 / 6.20 and how it behaves when a feature is not supported.
Access points with LCOS LX as of version 6.20 Rel can only managed by a WLAN-Controller with LCOS as of version 10.80 RU3.
As of LCOS LX 6.20 RU1 the access points can also be managed by a WLAN-Controller as of LCOS 10.72 SU10.
Section | Feature | Supported? | Remarks |
---|---|---|---|
WLAN Controller → General | Password synchronization | Yes | |
WLAN timing | Yes | ||
Using alternative WLAN Controllers | No | ||
WLAN Controller → Profiles → Logical WLAN networks (SSIDs) | LAN at AP with VLAN tagging | Yes | |
WLC-Tunnel | Yes | Supported as of LCOS LX 5.32 Rel in combination with LCOS as of version 10.42 RU3 on the WLAN Controller | |
Encryption - WPA2 | Yes | ||
Encryption - WPA3 | Yes | ||
Encryption - Enhanced-Open | Yes | ||
Encryption - Enhanced-Open-Transitional | No | ||
802.1X | Yes | ||
RADIUS profiles | Yes | ||
2,4 / 5 / 6 GHz mode | Yes | The 6 GHz mode is only supported by the WLAN-Controller as of LCOS 10.72. | |
Standalone operation | Yes | ||
Hotspot 2.0 / 802.11u | No | ||
OKC | Yes | ||
MAC check | Yes | ||
RADIUS accounting | Yes | ||
Inter station traffic | Yes | This feature only prevents data traffic between WLAN clients if they are logged in to the same access point. When using a WLC-Tunnel, WLAN clients which are logged in to the same access point but different radio modules cannot communicate with each other even if the Inter station traffic is allowed. As of LCOS LX 6.10 the feature Client Isolation is supported, which also allows to prevent data traffic between WLAN clients if they are logged in to different access points. However, this feature is not available on a WLAN-Controller and therefore has to be activated on each access point individually. | |
Fast Roaming | Yes | Only supported with 802.1X. | |
Configurable base rate | Yes | Changing the base rate sets the Broadcast and Multicast rates to the same value. As of LCOS LX 6.14 RU1 also the Beacon rate is changed, when the base rate is set. As the Beacon rate only supports rates of 6, 12 and 24 MBit, it is set to the next lowest value if another value is used for the base rate. The minimum base rate and the supported base rates are not set when configuring this option in the WLAN-Controller. | |
Client Bridge Support | No | ||
Bandwith limit per SSID | Yes | ||
Bandwith limit per Client | Yes | The Client TX bandwith limit does not work in combination with a WLC-Tunnel. | |
Maximum count of clients | Yes | ||
Min. Client signal strength | Yes | ||
Client disassocation signal strength | No | ||
Location Based Services (LBS) | No | ||
Convert to unicast | Yes | DHCP packets cannot be converted by LCOS LX. Therefore with the setting DHCP the Unicast conversion in LCOS LX is deactivated and with DHCP and multicast only Multicast packets are converted to Unicast. | |
Transmit only Unicasts | No | Broadcast packets cannot be discarded by an LCOS LX access point. | |
U-APSD | Yes | As of LCOS LX 6.12 Rel U-APSD can be managed by a WLAN-Controller. In earlier LCOS LX versions U-APSD is active permanently. | |
Encrypt Mgmt frames | Yes | ||
WLAN Controller → Profiles → Physical WLAN parameters | Country setting | Yes | |
2,4 GHz mode | Yes | If a setting is selected, which is not supported by the access point (e.g. 802.11ax in combination with an LW-500), a profile error will be displayed and the WiFi won't be broadcasted on the affected access point. | |
5 GHz mode | Yes | If a setting is selected, which is not supported by the access point (e.g. 802.11ax in combination with an LW-500), a profile error will be displayed and the WiFi won't be broadcasted on the affected access point. | |
5 GHz subbands | Yes | ||
6 GHz mode | Yes | The 6 GHz mode is only supported by the WLAN-Controller as of LCOS 10.72. | |
6 GHz subbands | Yes | The 6 GHz mode is only supported by the WLAN-Controller as of LCOS 10.72. | |
DTIM period | Yes | The DTIM period can be set by a WLAN-Controller as of LCOS LX 6.20 Rel. In previous LCOS LX versions, the DTIM period is set to the fixed value 1. | |
Background scan interval | No | ||
Antenna gain | Yes | ||
Tx power reduction | Yes | LCOS LX always calculates the reduction coming from a base transmit power of 30 dB. As a result this leads to the following constellations for the different frequency bands and the sub-bands in 5 Ghz mode:
| |
Activate the VLAN module | - | Activating the VLAN module in LCOS LX is not necessary and doesn't have any impact. | |
ARC: Client Steering | Yes | LCOS LX only supports AP based band steering. When using the options On and Client management the mode AP based band steering is used in LCOS LX (in this case LCOS LX uses the profile P-DEFAULT). | |
ARC: Adaptive RF Optimization | No | ||
QoS according to 802.11e | Active permanently | ||
Activate Indoor only mode | Yes | ||
Report seen unknown clients | No | ||
WLAN Controller → Profiles → Advanced Profiles | Device LED profiles | Yes | |
AutoWDS | No | ||
LBS - Server | No | ||
Wireless ePaper | No | ||
Wireless IDS | No | ||
Link Aggregation (LACP) | Yes | To use LACP, LCOS LX as of version 6.12 Rel has to be used on the access point and LCOS as of version 10.80 Rel has to be used on the WLAN-Controller. | |
WLAN Controller → AP Configuration → Extended settings | Client steering profiles LBS - AP Locations iBeacon Profiles | No No No | |
