Description:
Scripting can be used to transfer individual partial configurations or complete configurations to different device types.
This means, by way of example, that a complete configuration can be transferred from a LANCOM 1783VA to a LANCOM 1793VA. Similarly, just parts of a configuration (such as the firewall rules) can be transferred as well.
Scripting therefore allows the reconfiguration of, or changes to, LANCOM routers to be carried out much more quickly and efficiently.

Please note, that VPN rules in the firewall are not supported anymore as of LCOS 10.70. If required, existing script files must be modified. You can find additional information on this topic in the following Knowledge Base article:

LCOS as of version 10.60 / 10.70: VPN rules in the firewall configuration of a LANCOM router are no longer supported

Requirements:

Procedure:
Creating a script file:
1) Click with the right-hand mouse button on the LANCOM router and select Configuration management → Save script as file...
2) Enter a file name and type into the field Download selected sections only. In the example shown, we are exporting the firewall rules from the LANCOM and therefore we enter the path Setup/IP Router/Firewall/Rules.

If you do not define a path in the Download selected sections only field, the the entire configuration of the LANCOM will be exported to a script file.

If multiple section should be exported, the individual paths have to be separated via a space symbol (e.g. /setup/VPN /setup/ip-router/Firewall/Rules /setup/IP-Router/IP-Routing-Table).

Informations on the paths to the sections are available in the LCOS menu reference manual.

3) Click on Save.

4) A file is creqated with the name LANCOM-1721-VPN.lcs. You can view the contents of the file in a text editor (e.g. Notepad, Wordpad, etc.):

Import script file:

1) Click with the right-hand mouse button on the LANCOM router and select Configuration management →  Restore script from file...

For more information about scripting, see the corresponding chapter in the LANCOM Reference Manual.
