Description: This document describes how a LANCOM router is configured to set a maximum bandwidth for a computer or network for the protocols HTTP and HTTPS.
Requirements: Procedure: Start the program LANconfig and mark the router which is to be set up with a maximum bandwidth.
1) After opening the configuration, please go to the
Firewall/QoS section.
2) Now select the
Rules tab and create a new rule with
Add.
3) Enter a name for the rule here.
4) Now select the
Services tab and for
Protocols/target services enable the item
the following protocols/target services. Click on
Add.
For our example, now add the protocols
HTTP and
HTTPS:
5) Switch to the
Stations tab and enter the stations or networks
that are to be restricted. Click on
Stations -> Add.
6) Enter the stations or networks according to your needs: In our example we want to restrict the station
192.168.10.20.
After confirming, the entry should look like this.
7) Now switch to the
Actions tab.
8) Remove the object
REJECT by highlighting it and then clicking on
Delete.
9) Add a
new object.
You will see the following view, which must be changed according to your requirements. In this case, the rule applies only if it relates to the default route.
We have decided on a maximum bandwidth of 25 kbps. Packages exceeding this bandwidth are dropped.
Do not use reject! This would terminate the entire connection instead of just dropping the excess packets.
We have turned off SNMP to avoid generating a message every time the Internet is accessed via HTTP/HTTPS.
10) Confirm your entries.
11) Write everything back to the router.
Specifying the speed of an external modem: 1) Open LANconfig and go to
Interfaces -> WAN -> Interface settings -> DSL.
If more than one DSL connection is available, double-check to make sure that you configure the correct one.
2) In the following dialog, specify your connection speeds:
