This article describes how to set up Config Sync for synchronizing the configurations across a WLC cluster.

Requirements:

• Bereits konfigurierter und funktionsfähiger WLC-ClusterConfigured and functional WLC cluster.

Procedure:

1. Konfigurationsschritte auf dem ersten WLAN-Controller) Configuration steps on the first WLAN controller:

1.1 Erstellen eines Zertifikat-Eintrags im SCEP-Client auf dem ersten WLAN-Controller) Create a certificate entry in the SCEP client on the first WLAN controller:

1.1.1 Öffnen Sie die Konfiguration des ersten WLAN-Controllers in LANconfig und wechseln in das Menü ) Open the configuration of the first WLAN controller in LANconfig and navigate to the menu Certificates → SCEP Client → Certificate table.

1.1.2 Klicken Sie auf Add, um einen neuen Eintrag anzulegen) Click Add to create a new entry.

1.2.3 Passen Sie die folgenden Parameter an) Modify the following parameters:

• Name: Vergeben Sie einen aussagekräftigen Namen Enter a descriptive name (in diesem Beispiel this example CONFIG-SYNC).
• CA Distinguished Name: Tragen Sie den Enter the CA Distinguished Name ein, der unter that is stored under Certificates → Cert. authority (CA) hinterlegt ist (in diesem Beispiel this example /CN=LANCOM CA/O=LANCOM SYSTEMS/C=DE).
• Subject: Tragen Sie als Subject den String Set the Subject to the string /CN=<IPADR> /O=LANCOM/C=DE einEN, wobei <IPADR> durch die IP-Adresse des ersten WLAN-Controllers ersetzt werden muss (in diesem Beispiel where <IPADR> must be replaced by the IP address of the first WLAN controller (in this example /CN=172.23.56.254/O=LANCOM/C=DE).
• Challenge Password: Tragen Sie daspassword: Enter the General challenge password ein, welches unter Certifcates → Certificate handling hinterlegt istpassword, to be found under Certificates → Certificate handling.
• Key length: Wählen Sie eine Schlüssellänge mit mindestens 2048 Bit ausChoose a key length of at least 2048 bits.
• Usage type: Wählen Sie im Dropdown-Menü die Option Cofiguration synchronisation aus From the drop-down menu, select the option Configuration synchronization.

1.2 Einrichtung der Konfigurations-Synchronisierung) Setting up configuration synchronization:

1.2.1 Wechseln Sie in das Menü Management → Synchronisation und setzen den Haken bei ) Go to the menu Management → Synchronization and set a checkmark for Configuration synchronization active.

1.2.2 Wechseln Sie in das Menü ) Go to the menu Cluster devices.

1.2.3 Tragen Sie die IP-Adressen der beiden WLAN-Controller ein) Enter the IP addresses of the two WLAN controllers.

1.2.4 Wechseln Sie in das Menü ) Navigate to the menu Management → Synchronisation Synchronization → Menu nodes.

1.2.5 Erstellen Sie zwei neue Einträge über die Schaltfläche Add) Create two new entries using the Add button.

• Wählen Sie die Option Select the option synchronized between all cluster devices aus und tragen den Konsolen-Pfad and enter the command-line path /Setup/WLAN-Management ein.

• Wählen Sie die Option Select the option excluded from synchronization aus und tragen den Konsolen-Pfad and enter the command-line path /Setup/WLAN-Management/Preference ein. Dieser Parameter stellt die Priorität dar, mit welchem WLAN-Controller innerhalb des WLC-Clusters die Access Points sich bervorzugt verbinden. This parameter defines the priority of the WLAN controllers in the WLC cluster to which the access points should preferentially connect.

1.2.6 Die Tabelle Menu nodes muss anschließend wie folgt aussehen) The Menu nodes table should then look like this.

1.2.7 Die Konfigurationsschritte auf dem ersten WLAN-Controller sind damit abgeschlossen. Schreiben Sie die Konfiguration in das Gerät zurück.

2. Konfigurationsschritte auf dem zweiten WLAN-Controller:

2) Configuration steps on the second WLAN controller:

• Wählen Sie die Option excluded from synchronisation aus und tragen den Konsolen-Pfad Select the option excluded from synchronization and enter the command-line path /Setup/WLAN-Management/Preference ein. Dieser Parameter stellt die Priorität dar, mit welchem WLAN-Controller innerhalb des WLC-Clusters die Access Points sich bervorzugt verbinden. This parameter defines the priority of the WLAN controllers in the WLC cluster to which the access points should preferentially connect.

2.2.6 Die Tabelle Menu nodes muss anschließend wie folgt aussehen) The Menu nodes table should then look like this.

2.2.7 Die Konfigurationsschritte auf dem zweiten WLAN-Controller sind damit abgeschlossen. Schreiben Sie die Konfiguration in das Gerät zurück.

3. Aktivieren des Config-Sync:

Wählen Sie in LANconfig den WLAN-Controller aus, dessen Konfiguration auf die anderen Cluster-Mitglieder vereilt werden soll (in diesem Beispiel der WLC-Master), führen einen Rechtsklick auf dem Gerät aus und wählen im Kontextmenü die Option Activate Configuration Synchronization Settings aus.

3) Enabling Config Sync:

In LANconfig, select the WLAN controller with the configuration to be distributed to the other cluster members (in this example, the WLC-Master), right-click on the device and select the option Activate Configuration Synchronization Settings from the context menu.
