Description
If a software update of a LANCOM device is initiated via the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC), the LMC only tells the device to download the firmware from the download area (https://my.lancom-systems.com) and perform an update. The firmware is not downloaded from the LMC. If the firmware update fails due to any reason, the error message URI_REQUEST_FAILED is displayed.
This article describes the reasons and solutions, when a firmware update of a LANCOM device via the LANCOM Management Cloud is not possible.
Procedure:
Source address for the Software update is missing (LCOS only):
Make sure, that the Source address in the menu Management → Software update has been set.
Upstream router or firewall blocks or modifies packets to the download server:
It is possible that an upstream router or a firewall blocks the data traffic to the download server or modifies the packets in such a way, that the communication with the download server is disrupted. In this case communication has to be allowed or an exception has to be created.
The procedure to create an exception when the HTTP proxy is used on a LANCOM R&S®Unified Firewall is described in the following Knowledge Base article:
DNS resolutions for the download server doesn't work:
Create traces for the respective device type and contact LANCOM support afterwards with the following information:
- Exact device type and used firmware version
- Device configuration
- Saving a configuration or script file in LANconfig (LCOS)
- Generating a support configuration file with the LANtracer (LCOS)
- Konfigurations-Sicherung von LCOS LX Access Points
- Saving a LANCOM Switch configuration in the file format *.xml (GS-23xx)
- Saving a LANCOM switch configuration (GS-3xxx)
- Configuration export / import for an XS and GS-45xx series switch via the webinterface
