Description:

This document describes the information that needs to be collected in order for our Support to determine the cause for problems with the Wi-Fi connection with LCOS LX access points.

Procedure:

The traces always have to be created in the error state.

The trace output can become very big quite quickly. Therefore make sure, that the trace output in the SSH client is written to a text file.

First, check which access point the Wi-Fi device is connecting to. If this cannot be narrowed down to a single access point, the following steps must be performed on all of the potentially affected access points.

1) Creating the traces:

1.1) Connect to the access point via SSH, enter the following commands consecutively and record the error state.

  • ls status/wlan/station-table
  • ls status/wlan/channel-scan-results
  • ls status/wlan/radios
  • ls status/wlan/interfaces
  • ls status/wlan/competing-networks
  • tr # wlan -d (the trace can be stopped with the same command)

1.2) Enter the following commands once again after the error state has occured.

  • ls status/wlan/station-table
  • ls status/wlan/radios

2) Sending the information to LANCOM support for further analysis:

Please send the following information to LANCOM support for further analysis:

  • Firmware version of the affected access point
  • Description of the scenario as well as the observed behavior
  • MAC address of the affected Wi-Fi client
  • Trace of the access Points as well the CLI output as a text file
  • Support Information of the access point (in WEBconfig under Diagnosis → Support Information)
  • Configuration backup of the access point (standalone access point, LMC scenario and WLAN-Controller scenario) and the WLAN-Controller (WLAN-Controller scenario only):
