Description:

To be able to use the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client under macOS 14.x (Sonoma), at least client version 4.70 must be used.

If a VPN client of a lower version (e.g. version 4.6.x) was installed on a macOS lower than version 14.x and the macOS is then updated to version 14.x, the AVC from version 4.70 must be installed subsequently.

In many cases, the outdated VPN client is uninstalled via the Finder or the Launchpad of macOS, which leads to the following error messageafter reinstalling the client version 4.70 or higher when starting the client:

The VPN services are not running!
The VPN client’s firewall is also not active!
Please reboot.

However, a subsequent restart of the operating system does not resolve the behavior.

How can the behavior be corrected?

The behavior is due to the fact that the outdated VPN client was uninstalled via the Finder or the Launchpad of macOS. With these methods , however, the client is not uninstalled properly and the above error message appears when the client is started for the first time from version 4.70.

Only the uninstaller, which is included in the *.dmg installation file of the AVC, performs a proper and complete uninstallation of the AVC.

Proceed as follows:

1. execute the *.dmg file of the Advanced VPN Client

2. select the “Uninstall” option from the dialog

Installation assistant of the AVC for macOS

3. after the VPN client has been uninstalled, you can reinstall it using the *.dmg file of the client version 4.70 or higher.

4. then select the option “LANCOM Advanced VPN Client.pkg”.
