Description:
If your LAN or WAN connection cannot not transfer any data even though the configuration of the equipment appears to be correct, there may be a fault in the cabling. The cable test allows you to test the cabling from the LANCOM.

Requirements:

Procedure:
1) Start the web browser and enter the local IP address of your LANCOM router into the address bar.
2) In the login dialog, enter the user name and the access password.
3) In WEBconfig, change to the menu LCOS menu tree -> Status-> Ethernet ports -> Cable test.
4) In the Arguments field, enter the name of the interface you want to test (e.g. ETH-1, DSL-1). Make sure you spell the name of the interface correctly.
5) Start the cable test for the specified interface by clicking on the Execute button.
6) To view the test results, go to the menu LCOS menu -> Status -> Ethernet ports -> Cable test results .
7) The list displays the results produced by the cable test for each interface.
Possible results:
  • Tx status/Rx status OK: The cable is properly connected and the line is working.
  • Tx status/Rx status open with distance 0m: No cable is plugged in or there is a break within a distance of less than 10 meters.
  • Tx status/Rx status open with indication of a distance (e.g. 47m): The cable is plugged in, but there is a defect at the specified distance.
  • Impedance error: The cable pair at the other end is connected with the wrong impedance.
