Multiple certificate support in the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client

Description:

The multiple certificate support in the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client allows the use of different VPN connections to different companies, each of which requires its own user certificate. You can set multiple certificate settings and assign them to each connection profile.

This significantly simplifies the handling where, for example, a VPN connection accesses several networks, each with its own certificate.

This document describes how to use the multiple certificate support in the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client.

Prerequisite:

LANCOM Advanced VPN Client as of version 2.1 (download latest version)

Scenario:

1) A PC located in the home office is to be able to connect to certificate-based VPN connections at the different company locations office 1 and office 2.

2) The two company offices work with different user certificates.

3) The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client is installed on the PC in the home office, and the two VPN connections to the company offices are already set up.

Procedure:

1) If both certificate-based VPN connections are set up already, certificates for each client connection are to be found in the VPN Client menu Configuration → Certificates. These certificate configurations now have to be assigned to the corresponding connection profiles.

2) Go to the menu Configuration → Profiles and open (edit) the connection profile for Company office 1.

3) In the configuration item Identities, remove the check mark for the option Pre-shared key. In the Certificate configuration selection box, set the configuration for Company office 1. Close the profile with the OK button.

4) Open the connection profile for Company office 2.

5) In the configuration item Identities, remove the check mark for the option Pre-shared key. In the Certificate configuration selection box, set the configuration for Company office 2. Close the profile with the OK button.
